You want to create as positive an impression as you can with potential customers, but your site communicates with them in ways other than you may intend. A well-designed, properly implemented, and well-written site implies a level of professionalism that says more than almost anything you can state directly. On the other hand, broken and misleading links, incorrect spellings, poor grammar, etc., imply that you may not be concerned with the details that are important in transactions with your customers.

I have a wide variety of experience that is useful in finding problems. During my more than 20 years in engineering, I have held a number of positions related to inspection and test, including:

Additionally, I was technical editor for two books ("1001 Java Programmer's Tips" and "The Intranet Bible," both published by Jamsa Press) and participated in an ISO9000 project as a lead member. • Proofreading (spelling and grammar inspection): $20/hr.
• HTML inspection and testing, not including forms (links work; links go to right destination, images load properly, tables closed properly, etc.): $25/hr.
• Accessibility inspection and testing: $30/hr.
• Form testing: $40/hr.
• Browser testing: $40/hr.

My output:

• A report showing the exact location of all errors and a suggested fix for each (if it is possible for me to determine).
• Form testing - a summary of the defect, a detailed description of the defect, and the conditions that caused the defect to appear, including browser and platform.
